FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

Active Military, Veterans & Families Only

Veteran’s Choice Pantry

Our commissary provides more than 500 military and veteran families with basic food needs every month. The majority of our clients utilize our services less than three times a year. It is often an unforeseen bill or illness that leads to a temporary need. We strive to ensure no veteran goes hungry.

The SAM Center houses a free commissary (pantry) of non-perishable food items, dairy products, frozen meat, fresh fruits and vegetables, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, and paper products. The food distribution offers two weeks’ worth of food and is open by appointment.

Veteran Hours:

    • Open (by appointment): Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
    • Veteran ID, widow/widower, or active military spouse ID required

To Schedule an Appointment: Call 330-956-6162 ext. 1

7-Day Food Bags

In addition to the commissary, Serving Area Military and Veterans offers seven-day emergency food bags that contain enough nutritional supplies to last an individual for roughly seven days. These kits are distributed at multiple locations throughout Northeast Ohio (i.e Veterans Service Commission, Canton VA, and other distribution networks for house-bound veterans). The goal is to have food readily available for veterans in need.
