Recognizing a need in the Stark County community, the SAM Center created a county-wide veterans' resource fair in 2017. The inaugural event assisted 652 veterans and widows. Thanks to Brian Maurer and the VA, we were one of the first locations in the nation to do on site vesting exams resulting in dozens of veterans registering for VA healthcare. In 2018, the event assisted 99 veterans with VA healthcare enrollment with attendance of more than 600. In 2019, we moved the event to American Legion Post 221 before going virtual in 2020.
The Department of Veterans' Affairs and our community partners have made this event one of our nation's premier assistance events. The services include VA benefits, health insurance, housing assistance, drug and alcohol treatment, equestrian programs, therapy dogs and so much more. In one day, our partners provide more than $700,000 in economic benefit to the Stark County community.
Vendor Registration
The SAM Center invites organizations that assist veterans to be a vendor at our 6th Annual Veterans' Resource Fair. The registration is online at https://forms.office.com/r/uLnnsRQkWy. Tables are free for all assistance providers. Commercial vendors seeking to sell products will not be approved.
